How Big Government Captured Science and Electricity and Why We are Paying For It

May 21 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm AWST

With an estimated cost of $1.5 trillion by 2030, the moonshot transition to a renewable energy grid requires deep consideration. As politicians and bureaucrats pick winners in energy markets, and the government promises to increase domestic production of solar panels despite a global glut, many questions go unanswered. Clean energy markets have declined by as much as 40% in the last year. A conversation about Australia’s energy future and the costs and benefits needs to be had.

Jo Nova is an award winning science writer. Jo has won awards as a science graduate and international awards as a blogger. She authored the book The Skeptic’s Handbook which has been translated into 15 languages, and speaks at conferences on topics like How to Destroy an Electricity Grid. Her blog joannenova.com receives around 14,000 visitors each day. Jo used to host a children’s TV series on Channel Nine, spoke on ABC radio and was a regular speaker on the emerging medical revolution. She has a degree in molecular biology and was an associate lecturer in Science Communication at ANU.
