Thaddeus Meadows on The Dean of Science Fiction – Robert Heinlein
July 23 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm AWST
One of the 20th Century’s greatest science fiction authors Robert Heinlein, was instrumental in shaping the modern genre including classic works such as The Moon is a Harsh Mistress (1966) and Starship Troopers (1959). In his writing, Heinlein hoped to inspire the pursuit of scientific knowledge. Thaddeus Meadows was first introduced to the writings of Heinlein from the novel The Year of the Jackpot, which began his interest in the question of economics. In this special virtual seminar, Thaddeus Meadows will explore the work of Heinlein and his legacy to science and beyond.
Thaddeus Meadows studied Economics at Truman State University and will begin PhD work in the Fall of 2024, hoping to continue his studies of demographics, social decline, and mathematical complexity theory. When he’s not reading or writing about economics, he enjoys tap dancing and plays jazz guitar.
