Poacher and Gamekeeper: Reflections from a Free Market Perspective
October 1 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm AWST
What the late Austin Holmes has described as the “Good Fight” – “the struggle to get good sense (economic rationality if you like) into our economic affairs and, more specifically, into the economic policies which influence those affairs” – is a never ending one, sometimes it seems a Sisyphean challenge.
In this seminar, Lyndon will draw on his experiences in both the private and public sectors to examine the role of government in the context of both market and government/regulatory failure, why politicians and regulators should be modest and the increasing failure of the public sector to provide “frank and fearless advice”.
Lyndon Rowe is currently the Commissioner of the Utilities Commission of the Northern Territory, Director of Mannkal Economic Education Foundation, and a Non-Executive Director of Mannwest Group. Previously Lyndon has worked in a number of roles including as a Non-Executive Director of Perth Airport, Chairman of Synergy, Executive Chairman of Economic Regulation Authority of WA, CEO of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of WA and a Member of the Senate of the University of Western Australia.
